During the spring of 2022 the board of the Kvarken Council EGTC decided to produce a new strategy for the Kvarken Council’s operations. The new strategy must be accounted for and approved at the annual meeting in May 2023.
The strategy work is planned as follows: during autumn 2022 and spring 2023 all members and stake holders will have the opportunity to participate and influence the directions and priorities of the new strategy. In October–December 2022, the Kvarken Council’s member organizations, and everyone who wants to be involved, are invited to information and consultation meetings. The focus of the dialogue during these meetings is on what the change from an association to an EGTC means and what expectations the members have regarding the Kvarken Council’s activities.
– Our partners have shown great interest in the strategy work. The first two meetings have gathered over 50 participants. In addition, several of our member organizations have booked separate meetings on the subject. The discussion has been lively, the interest is great and cross-border cooperation across the entire Kvarken region is seen as something important, says Veronica Berg, Development Manager at the Kvarken Council.
In February 2023, the Kvarken Council invites members, and cooperation partners to a workshop. The purpose of the workshop is to develop prioritized areas of action for the Kvarken Council’s operations during the period 2023–2027. Based on the completed dialogue, a draft of the strategy will be prepared and in February–March 2023 it will be sent out to the members to submit views on the new strategy. In April 2023, the received responses and conducted dialogue meetings will be summed up. During the annual meeting in May 2023, the Kvarken Council’s board will decide on the new strategy.
– We already want to invite and ask all those interested to mark the date 2.2.2023 in the calendars. During that day we will cruise across the Kvarken and have two separate information sessions for partners from Sweden and Finland. In addition, we will have a few hours of common program for everyone, and we hope to achieve a good meeting! says Berg.
