Delegationen bestod av direkt\u00f6r Christina Knookala fr\u00e5n Kvarkenr\u00e5det, landskapsdirekt\u00f6r Olav Jern fr\u00e5n \u00d6sterbottens f\u00f6rbund samt utvecklingschef Tomas Sikstr\u00f6m och utvecklingsstrateg Emmy Sundin fr\u00e5n Ume\u00e5 kommun. Studiebes\u00f6ket till Eurotunnel f\u00f6retogs i samband med EU:s regionala kommittes m\u00f6te i Bryssel. Det var t\u00e4nkt att \u00e5ka med Eurostart\u00e5get fr\u00e5n Bryssel, men t\u00e5gets tidtabell passade inte med delegationens tidsschema. Bilresan fr\u00e5n Bryssel till Calais tog tv\u00e5 timmar. P\u00e5 plats i Calais togs delegationen emot av Eurotunnels trafikdirekt\u00f6r John Keefe med medarbetare. \u00c4ven Eurotunnels verksamhetschef Pascal Sainson deltog i presentationen.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=&#8221;1_2&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.9.1&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.9.1&#8243; background_size=&#8221;initial&#8221; background_position=&#8221;top_left&#8221; background_repeat=&#8221;repeat&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p class=\"caption\">John Keefe som har varit med i verksamheten sedan Eurotunnelprojektet startade ber\u00e4ttade att tunnelns planerings- och byggnadsskede r\u00e4ckte \u00e5tta \u00e5r. Tunneln har nu varit verksam i 15 \u00e5r. Tunneln \u00e4r byggd helt och h\u00e5llet med privata medel, varken EU eller franska eller engelska staten har bidragit till finansieringen. Priset f\u00f6r tunneln inklusive alla s\u00e4kerhetsarrangemang blev ca 6 miljarder euro. Tunneln har nu b\u00f6rjat g\u00e5 med vinst, och detta \u00e5r betalades 40 miljoner euro ut i dividend \u00e5t tunnelns investerare.<\/p>\n<p class=\"caption\">Passagerarm\u00e4ngden har detta \u00e5r \u00f6kat med 10 procent, men fraktm\u00e4ngden har minskat med samma andel. Tunneln anv\u00e4nds \u00e5rligen av ca 9 miljoner passagerare. John Keefe ber\u00e4ttade att veckoslutsturismen har \u00f6kat och folk skaffar sommarstugor i grannlandet. Det billigaste biljettpriset f\u00f6r en bil med passagerare \u00e4r 20 euro, under rusningstid kostar resan 100 euro.<\/p>\n<p class=\"caption\">Delegationen fr\u00e5n Kvarkenregionen var s\u00e4rskilt intresserad av hur skillnaderna mellan England och Frankrike p\u00e5verkat Eurotunnelprojektet. John Keefe n\u00e4mnde bl.a. tv\u00e5 olika spr\u00e5k, tidsskillnaden, att de franska l\u00e5ngtradarna \u00e4r h\u00f6gre \u00e4n de engelska, h\u00f6ger- och v\u00e4nstertrafik samt kulturella skillnader. J\u00e4rnv\u00e4gens sp\u00e5rbredd \u00e4r densamma i b\u00e5da l\u00e4nderna. Enligt Keefe hade skillnaderna inte orsakat problem, eftersom man visste om dem i f\u00f6rv\u00e4g.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row column_structure=&#8221;1_2,1_2&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.9.1&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;1_2&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.9.1&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.9.1&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p class=\"caption\">T\u00e5gresan genom Eurotunnel var behaglig. Det gick fort att lasta bilarna p\u00e5 t\u00e5get. Bilarna k\u00f6rdes ombord p\u00e5 samma s\u00e4tt som p\u00e5 en bilf\u00e4rja, personbilarna i tv\u00e5 v\u00e5ningar. Det rymdes fyra personbilar i en t\u00e5gvagn. Mellan vagnarna fanns brandd\u00f6rrar. Den 50 km l\u00e5nga resan fr\u00e5n Frankrike till England tog 35 minuter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"caption\">T\u00e5gvagnarna var rymliga, ljusa och v\u00e4lst\u00e4dade. Under resans g\u00e5ng kunde passagerarna stiga ut bilarna och g\u00e5 mellan vagnarna. Man m\u00e4rkte inte just av att t\u00e5get \u00e5kte ner i tunneln eller kom upp d\u00e4rifr\u00e5n, trots att tunneln som djupast \u00e4r ca 100 meter under havsytan. Skyltarna var p\u00e5 engelska, franska och tyska, t.o.m. svenska skyltar fanns p\u00e5 vissa st\u00e4llen. Personalen m\u00e5ste kunna b\u00e5de engelska och franska.<\/p>\n<p class=\"caption\">S\u00e4kerhetsarrangemangen var gedigna, t.ex. s\u00e5 genomlystes alla bilar. Om det blir en farlig situation kan t\u00e5get omdirigeras till en annan tunnel. Dessutom finns en skild s\u00e4kerhetstunnel. Trafikstyrningen fungerar som ett flygledartorn.
