The fifth FAIR competence network webinar on

Public\u00a0Procurement of flights in Sweden and Finland<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n

 <\/p>\n

The goal of the FAIR project is to create synergy, increase knowledge of the potential of electric-powered flights and accelerate the implementation of regional electric flights especially in the\u00a0Kvarken\u00a0region. The project consists of three work packages (WP 1-3) of which RISE is responsible for WP 3 focusing on the Cross-border innovation process and the project\u00b4s competence network.<\/span><\/p>\n

The purpose of the competence network is to gather and engage actors for the active exchange of expertise and knowledge.\u202fThe goal is to contribute to and further develop a Nordic competence network within electric aviation.<\/span><\/p>\n

The projects\u2019 fifth\u00a0competence network webinar on\u00a0June 15th, gathered about\u00a030\u00a0participants.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Aviation Strategist for the Swedish Transport Administration<\/span><\/i>,\u00a0<\/span>Katarina Wigler,\u00a0<\/span><\/i>presented\u00a0the organisation\u2019s\u00a0prestudy\u00a0results\u00a0on\u00a0public procurement of fossil-free flights\u00a0and\u00a0elaborated on\u00a0how procured air traffic\u00a0in Sweden\u00a0can contribute to\u00a0increased\u00a0accessibility\u00a0and\u00a0reducing climate impact.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Head of Investigation for the Swedish Transport Administration<\/span><\/i>,\u00a0<\/span>Bosse Andersson,\u00a0<\/span><\/i>talked about\u202fSweden\u00b4s\u00a0accessibility criteria, air routes and the upcoming procurement period.\u00a0He\u00a0clarified the\u00a0organizations obligations connected to\u00a0Public Service Obligations (PSOs)\u00a0and regional public transport.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Legal advisor\u00a0for the\u00a0<\/span><\/i>Finnish Transport and Communications Agency<\/span><\/i>,\u00a0<\/span>Meeri\u00a0Niinisalo,\u00a0<\/span><\/i>presented on\u00a0Traficoms\u00b4 assignment of public procurements of flights\u00a0both connected to the history of air transport PSO routes\u00a0in Finland, and\u00a0to the current\u00a0and future\u00a0status.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The discussions\u00a0overall\u00a0touched upon possibilities and obstacles for\u00a0electric powered flights as means of transport in the future. Topics\u00a0explored\u00a0for example\u00a0procurement and government measures, regional hubs\u00a0and\u00a0city procurements. The dialogue\u00a0<\/span>delved into future scenarios within the scope of identifying opportunities to positively disturb the existing Nordic Air system, implementing Electric Aviation in a way to capitalise on regional strengths and opportunities.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
