{"id":13541,"date":"2022-09-20T10:55:02","date_gmt":"2022-09-20T07:55:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kvarken.org\/?p=13541"},"modified":"2022-09-22T11:00:11","modified_gmt":"2022-09-22T08:00:11","slug":"new-transport-needs-and-necessary-infrastructure-developments-charted-in-the-emerging-nordic-battery-belt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kvarken.org\/en\/new-transport-needs-and-necessary-infrastructure-developments-charted-in-the-emerging-nordic-battery-belt\/","title":{"rendered":"The ports and local supply chains need to be developed to meet future needs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Transport and logistics in the battery value chain is the focus of a new report, commissioned by the Nordic Battery Belt Logistics project and which is presented today at the final conference of the project and the electric flight project FAIR in Skellefte\u00e5.<\/p>\n<p>Transport volumes from ongoing and planned establishments have been mapped, and the transport system of the region has been analysed to identify potential bottlenecks that needs to be addressed. Interviews and workshops have been held with companies in the battery production and the logistics sector.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 It&#8217;s clear from the report that transport volumes will increase, which further underlines the need for infrastructure investments such as increased port capacity in all four cities and improved road and rail connections (e.g. North Bothnia Line), says <strong>Anna L\u00f6fmarck<\/strong>, Senior Consultant at Ramboll Management Consulting.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 It&#8217;s also noted that the region is rich in natural resources that are necessary for the emerging battery industry, which in the future could enable local supply chains to be utilised to a greater extent,\u00a0L\u00f6fmarck continues.<\/p>\n<p>With continued improvements in sea and rail transports, as well as sustainable road transport solutions, the already green battery production of the Nordic Battery Belt can become even more sustainable.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 We are happy to see that our region has become the hotspot for the battery industry which is a key industry for the transition to a zero-emission society.
