{"id":19066,"date":"2023-11-17T13:54:52","date_gmt":"2023-11-17T10:54:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kvarken.org\/?p=19066"},"modified":"2023-12-11T15:10:26","modified_gmt":"2023-12-11T12:10:26","slug":"bothnian-coastal-route-from-a-travel-journalists-point-of-view-a-perfect-mix-of-nature-and-culture","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kvarken.org\/en\/bothnian-coastal-route-from-a-travel-journalists-point-of-view-a-perfect-mix-of-nature-and-culture\/","title":{"rendered":"Bothnian Coastal Route from a Travel Journalist\u2019s Point of View \u2013 A Perfect Mix of Nature and Culture"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">During the <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Sustainable Coastal Tourism webinar<\/span> <b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Andrea Ullius<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\"> talked about the unique selling points of the Bothnian Bay coastal area. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">He\u2019s a <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">travel journalist from Switzerland, who has travelled along the Bothnian Bay coastal route.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">According to Ullius many people talk about sustainability, but few takes action. He also pointed out that most of the sustainability certificates are not familiar to the travellers.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u2013 Travel is never sustainable; you have your footprint. The question is, how can you offer products that are environmentally, economically, and socially sustainable? Ullius emphasized.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Ullius pointed out that it\u2019s very important to support the small and family-owned businesses in the area. The travellers want to meet the locals and hear their stories. According to Ullius, the region can even more effectively involve the travellers with the local people, and their activities.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Unique combination of cities, landscapes, islands, and beaches<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Ullius described that the Bothnian Bay coastal area offers a perfect mix of nature experiences and city feeling. Each larger city in the area, such as Vaasa, Ume\u00e5, and Oulu, has unique sites and activities to offer. There\u2019s also UNESCO world heritage sites, and many cultural attractions in the region.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u2013 There\u2019s variable and breath-taking scenery in the area. There\u2019s many lakes, rivers, and beaches. The sand beaches are very special. The combination of cities, landscapes, and islands is exciting and unique.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u2013 The tourism must be in harmony with the nature and the people.
