The campaign was distributed through social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Meta (Facebook and Instagram), and TikTok, using both organic and paid distribution in the project area (on TikTok, however, geographic targeting could only be done at national level).<\/p>\n<p>The results speak for themselves (figures as of mid-March\u202f2025):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>3.9\u202fmillion views and 1.45\u202fmillion unique accounts reached<\/li>\n<li>4,654\u202fhours of total watch time \u2013 equivalent to over six months of continuous viewing<\/li>\n<li>8,836\u202finteractions (likes, comments, shares)<\/li>\n<li>Cost-effective advertising, with CPM at only EUR\u202f0.71 (~SEK\u202f7.69) on TikTok and EUR\u202f2.71 (~SEK\u202f29.33) on Meta (CPM = cost per 1,000\u202fviews)<\/li>\n<li>Entire campaign\u2019s total ad cost: EUR\u202f7,200<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Broad Demographic Reach Targeting Different Audiences<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The campaign reached a diverse demographic audience, with slightly different distributions across platforms:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Age Distribution:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Meta: A relatively even spread among age groups: 16% (18\u201324\u202fyears), 20% (25\u201334\u202fyears), 17% (35\u201344\u202fyears), 16% (45\u201354\u202fyears), 16% (55\u201364\u202fyears), and 15% (65+\u202fyears)<\/li>\n<li>TikTok: A stronger focus on younger audiences: 41% (18\u201324\u202fyears), 25% (25\u201334\u202fyears), 14% (35\u201344\u202fyears), 10% (45\u201354\u202fyears), and 10% (55+\u202fyears)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Geographic Distribution:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Meta: 53,8% Sweden and 46,2% Finland<\/li>\n<li>TikTok: 49% Sweden and 51% Finland<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The most popular video (Video\u202f5) alone reached 1.19\u202fmillion views. Of the campaign\u2019s total 3.93\u202fmillion views, only 0.8% (~33,000) came from organic distribution, while the remaining 99.2% (3.9\u202fmillion) were achieved through paid visibility. This clearly demonstrates that strategic media investments are crucial for spreading messages about sustainable aviation to a broad audience. The alternative would be to create content so exceptionally engaging that it spreads virally without paid promotion \u2013 something that is very difficult to achieve, especially within specialized subject areas.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Lessons for the Future<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The campaign\u2019s success provides valuable insights for future communication efforts:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Exceptionally high engagement, which is rare for paid advertising<\/li>\n<li>Effective channel growth, with over 600\u202fnew followers on TikTok (a brand-new account with no initial followers)<\/li>\n<li>Cost-efficient reach through strategic media use<\/li>\n<li>Potential for shorter videos in the future to drive even higher public engagement<\/li>\n<li>Strong public interest, highlighting the need for active presence to respond to audience questions<\/li>\n<li>Paid visibility is costly, but CPM (cost per 1,000\u202fviews) remained low compared to typical platform rates; TikTok usually ranges from EUR\u202f0.33 to 3.00, while Meta varies between EUR\u202f3.00 and 7.00.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Although the FAIR 2 project is now concluding, the campaign materials will remain available through the Kvarken Council\u2019s digital channels, which ensures that the public can continue accessing the information. The New North project will continue, with the possibility of reusing or adapting the materials as needed.
