Michael Bj\u00f6rklund, an award-winning chef, has been chosen to create a four-course World Heritage Menu, served onboard the Wasaline ferry in the autumn.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; The menu will contain ingredients from both sides of the Kvarken and consist of an appetizer or an amuse-bouche, an entr\u00e9e, the main course and a dessert. It will be launched in the autumn, but already now we can reveal that we\u2019re doing all we can to incorporate as many local ingredients into the menu as possible, <strong>Michael Bj\u00f6rklund<\/strong> reveals.<\/p>\n<p>Bj\u00f6rklund has, for a long time, been a familiar face in the grand chef scene, and he has endeavored to highlight Nordic cuisine, ingredients and producers. He is also known from several TV programmes and for his cookbooks, and he has been awarded the title of \u201cChef of the Year\u201d in Finland and Sweden and the fifth place in the renowned Bocuse d\u2019Or chef contest.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Thanks to the visionary Bj\u00f6rklund and Wasaline, we can offer this taste experience to all the inhabitants and visitors in the Kvarken Region.What\u2019s more, this coincides with the 10-year anniversary celebrations of the joint World Heritage Site, Project Leader <strong>Marianne Sj\u00f6str\u00f6m<\/strong> states.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; We are glad that the project decided to launch the menu in our \u00e0 la carte restaurant. This is an exciting World Heritage and tourism project, and we are more than happy to promote the local food culture, says Wasaline\u2019s Managing Director <strong>Peter St\u00e5hlberg<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The menu will be served in the \u00e0 la carte restaurant onboard Wasaline\u2019s Wasa Express ferry during September 1st-24th, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The decision to serve the menu onboard the Wasa Express ferry was a natural one because the World Heritage Menu High Coast\/Kvarken Archipelago is part of the EU-funded Spotlight High-Low Coast project. The project focuses on cross-border collaboration via mutual product packaging in order to attract more tourists to the region. As a submeasure, the project has chosen to highlight the local food culture of the mutual World Heritage Site High Coast\/Kvarken Archipelago.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the planned menu, an information wall has been created onboard the ferry, providing travellers with short presentations on what the High Coast, the Kvarken Archipelago, Vaasa and Ume\u00e5 have to offer.
