I am Lycke Karlsson, 21 years old and I live in Vaasa. I graduated from Vörå sports high school and now from autumn 2018 I study Bachelor of Business administration in Novia in Vaasa. I have chosen to specialize in financial administration since courses in accounting interest me the most. I am deaf and my mother tongue is sign language. Most of my free time is spent on sport. I am middle- and long-distance runner and compete for Vasa Idrottssällskap. In recent years I have competed at elite level nationally and also competed in national competitions and international competitions for deaf. I do my traineeship here on Kvarken Council. When it was time to apply for traineeship, I got knowledge of Kvarken Council and I was immediately interested. I took contact with the director of Kvarken council and we met once before that the traineeship started. My traineeship started on 6th May.

I am the first trainee to receive on Kvarken Council. At the beginning of the traineeship I got general information about Kvarken council, the staff and also what their work means. I work mostly in communication with the communications manager. My work also includes other things, assisting office work and financial administration. I also got to attend the annual meeting, where I met members both from Sweden and Finland. During the traineeship I got as a trainee to learn a lot about Kvarken Council, its operation and also that cross-border cooperation is important. It is interesting to see their demanding work with different projects. My work is very flexible what is good for me when I ante fully on my sport. The workplace has few employees with different characteristics but has a good working climate. I feel that we have inspired, learned and listened to each other. I am thankful to be working on Kvarken Council.
