Tove Styrke, BESS, Lisa Miskovsky, and Elonkerjuu will perform at Kvarkenfest

The pop queen from Umeå Tove Styrke, the Melodifestivalen participant Lisa Miskovsky, the UMK participant BESS, and Elonkerjuu, the pride of the Finnish speaking Ostrobothnia, are few of the new artist reveals that will perform at Kvarkenfest on Saturday 18th of June 2022 at Elisa Stadion in Vaasa. The humour group KAJ, the first Swedish Idol winner Daniel Lindström, and the first Ostrobothnian the Voice of Finland winner Antti Railio, have been released earlier as artists that will perform at the festival.

The humour group KAJ, the first Swedish Idol winner Daniel Lindström, and the first Ostrobothnian the Voice of Finland winner Antti Railio, have been released earlier as artists that will perform at the festival. 

The Kvarkenfest organisers can now present the festivals main artist Tove Styrke, who origins from Umeå. Styrke is predicted to become the next international pop queen of Sweden, and she’s currently on tour with the world star MARINA in the US and Canada. 

– The artist set-up will soon be ready. It will for sure be a folk festival, and an awesome cavalcade of artists both from Sweden and Finland, says Fredrik Furu, the event coordinator for Kvarkenfest.  

– We’re proud to say that we now have both an Idol winner, and a winner of the Voice of Finland from the Kvarken region among the artists at Kvarkenfest. Lisa Miskovsky and BESS are also participating in Melodifestivalen and UMK this year which makes this spring even more exciting, says Mr Mathias Lindström, Director of the Kvarken Council. 

The musical star Jennie Storbacka, and the young pop talent Alva Elle, are also ready to perform at the festival. They perform as soloists together with Kvarken Allstars, which is a unique composition only for Kvarkenfest. 

The Kvarken Council and the formal cooperation between Finland and Sweden in the Kvarken region celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, and therefore Kvarkenfest is arranged. In addition, the festival will be organised on the same day as the running and wellbeing event Vaasa Run, which is organized by Vasa Idrottssällskap (Vasa IS). Over 2,000 runners with different exercise backgrounds are expected to participate. 

FamilyFun activity area for the whole family  

There will be built an activity area for the whole family outside of the Stadion, that consist of Folkhälsans obstacle course, Street art workshops, and the popular bungy trampoline by Hopsis, among other things. “Kidz Run” will also be held here. It’s a race for kids below school age, and all participants will get a medal, juice, and a balloon. 

– There will also be a change to get acquainted with a fire truck and a police motorcycle. There is also a dog show, a hobby horse track, and the BUU-klubben stamp will also visit the event, says Jannica Granbacka, the event manager for Vaasa Run. 

Fredrik Furu promises that there will be entertainment all day from the forenoon until after midnight.

– We open the activity area at 10 AM, and the festival gates at 12 PM, which is one hour before the Vaasa Run race starts. The first artist that will perform is the humour group KAJ at 15 PM, and after that there will be performances until after midnight, says Furu.  

There will be locally produced food and drinks that can be bought on the festival area.  

Only 5€ for a festival ticket

An entrance fee to Kvarkenfest is only 5€ if you book your ticket in advance from Netticket. With this offer, the Kvarken Council wants to offer as many as possible of the region’s inhabitants, the opportunity to take part of the cultural treasure that we have in the Kvarken region.

Facts – Tove Styrke:  
– Tove Styrke, that origins from Umeå, is predicted to become the next international pop queen of Sweden. 
– She released her new single “Show me love” in 2022, and is currently on tour in the US and Canada with the world-famous MARINA.  
– Styrke made her breakthrough in the Swedish Idol competition in 2009. She participated in the Swedish TV-program “Så mycket bättre” in 2020, and she’s also been a warm-up artist in Europe for the world-famous Katy Perry. Styrke has performed this year at the show “På spåret”, and at Carina Bergfeldt talkshow on Swedish TV-channel SVT.  

Facts – BESS: 
– BESS is a singer from Helsinki, that published her debut album 2019. 
– Her music is a combination of electric pop music and house.  
– This year BESS will participate in the “Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu”, which is the Finnish preselection for the Eurovision Song Contest. She will compete with the song ”Ram pam pam”, which is currently number one both on the singles chart in Finland, and on the Finnish Spotify chart.  

Facts – Lisa Miskovsky: 
Lisa Miskovsky, who origins from Umeå, is one of Sweden’s most established artists and songwriters. She has written for instance a world hit for Backstreet Boys. 
– Miskovsky, who has a Finnish mum, will participate in Melodifestivalen 19th of February 2022, the Swedish preselection for the Eurovision Song Contest, with the song “Best to come”. 
– She has sold over 200 000 albums, won two Grammis trophies, and five Rockbjörnen trophies. 

Facts – Elonkerjuu: 
– The rock band Elonkerjuu, from the Finnish speaking Ostrobothnia, became first known as Lauri Tähkä & Elonkerjuu but has after that gone their own way, and sold gold, platinum and quatro platinum. Besides that, they have also won several Emma awards. 

Facts – Kvarken Council EGTC:
– The Kvarken Council is a neutral cooperation platform that enables all kinds of cross-border cooperation in the Kvarken region.
– The Kvarken Council EGTC encompasses three Ostrobothnian counties in Finland and the County of Västerbotten and the Municipality of Örnsköldsvik in Sweden. Kvarken Council EGTC members consist of cities, municipalities and regional councils from all over the region.
– The Kvarken Council adopted its new organizational form EGTC at the turn of the year 2020–2021. The Kvarken Council EGTC continues the work that has been going on for 50 years.

Facts – Vaasa Run:  
– Held for the second year in a row at Elisa Stadion by VIS.  
– Routes 5km and 10km along the sea. You can walk, jog or run alone or as part of a team.  
– Kidz Run – a free-of-charge event for children under school age, all participants receive a medal, juice and a balloon! No registration in advance is necessary.  
– The goal is to attract over 2,000 participants with different exercise backgrounds.  
– Participants receive a ticket to Kvarkenfest, a T-shirt, and a goodie bag with local products.  
– The routes 5km and 10km are officially measured this year. All participants are given a chip for official timing, although they can choose not to time their run.

Facts – Kvarkenfest: 
– A 50-year tribute to the Kvarken collaboration. 
– The festival will be held 18th of June 2022 at Elisa Stadion in Vaasa. It will be organized by the Kvarken Council EGTC.  
– The aim is to strengthen cooperation among inhabitants of the whole region, as well as cultural and business cooperation in the Kvarken region. 
– The running and wellbeing event Vaasa Run will be organised on the same day as Kvarkenfest.  
– Presenters in both events are the TV profiles Kaj Kunnas and Jonathan “Jontti” Granbacka. 
– “Kvarken Talks” will be organised in connection to Kvarkenfest. It’s an opportunity for discussion with representatives from the cultural industry, business world, and the public sector. 
– The first 500 persons who book a ticket to the event will get a free entry to the festival. After that Kvarkenfest’s ticket price, when buying a ticket in advance, will only be 5€ (50 SEK).
