During the Bothnia Green Energy project’s seminar called “Buildings exist, IoT exists. Why do they not meet?”, the audience could learn about the information needs and the solutions related to energy and buildings. Buildings and construction take a major part of the energy used. Thus, the ways to minimize the costs of energy seem to be unknown and unused. The speakers brought up how it’s possible to improve this, and how AI can be used as a predictive maintenance.
The first speaker of the seminar was Jouni Ojala, who is Director for 4D planning at Granlund Oy. Ojala and his team works with 4D planning – scheduling both design, construction and design making, thus being able to cover the whole time span of a project, not just the construction phase.
– Everything that is designed is scheduled. The schedule accuracy equals real life level. Using this creates the possibility to cover the whole lifespan, from day one to delivery, connecting different parties of the project, Ojala explained.
Jari Kuusisto, Product Manager at Wapice Oy, was one of the speakers during the seminar. The topic of his presentation was: “Case examples: Harnessing the power of IoT, data analytics, ML and AI in Smart Cities and Buildings”. Among other things, Kuusisto presented how the internet of things application and innovation platform IoT-Ticket for property management works.
Anna-Riitta Kallinen, Owner and Chair of Board at ARK Consulting, ARKCON, has been actively involved in national Building Information Modeling (BIM) development projects for many years. Her presentation was about how we in the future will handle building permits using Cloudpermit. By using real cases, she showed the audience how it is done.
– OpenBIM and IFC gives us a growing potential to use data from buildings in a machine-readable format and automatically for the whole lifecycle’s information needs. We can also add AI to suitable places to help data analytics, Kallinen explained.
Jessica Ekström, Project Manager for construction and infrastructure from VASEK, acted as the moderator for the seminar.
– I am very pleased to have had the opportunity to moderate this seminar and I am grateful for the insights that our speakers have enlightened us with, Ekström said.
